Dr. Mia Gatti, DMSc, PA-C, is a dermatology and dermasurgery physician assistant, clinical research leader, and founder of the Dermatology Research Institute in Newport Beach, California. With nearly two decades of experience, she has built a reputation for advancing innovative therapies while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gatti has participated in more than 100 Phase I–IV dermatology clinical trials, contributing to new treatments for conditions including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne vulgaris, rosacea, hidradenitis suppurativa, skin cancer, and advanced aesthetic dermatology, as well as device and injectable studies.

As CEO and President of the Dermatology Research Institute, she leads one of Southern California's most innovative private dermatology research centers — known for high-performing enrollment, rigorous regulatory standards, and a concierge-level patient experience that makes it a trusted partner for pharmaceutical sponsors and CROs. She works closely with Dr. Soheil Simzar, MD, combining their clinical and research expertise to advance dermatologic innovation.
In addition to her research leadership, Dr. Gatti has performed over 10,000 dermatologic surgical procedures, including general excisions, melanoma removal, Mohs reconstruction, scar revision, and reconstructive procedures. She also specializes in neuromodulators, dermal fillers, laser and light therapies, and body-contouring technologies, and is a published author in peer-reviewed dermatology journals.
Dr. Gatti earned her Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) with a focus on dermatology and research, graduating at the top of her class. She received her Master's in Medical Science from Nova Southeastern University's Physician Assistant Program and her Bachelor's in Biology (Premed) from the University of Tampa, where she served as Vice President of the Biology Honors Fraternity, TriBeta. Prior to founding the Dermatology Research Institute, she was Co-founder and Director of Dermatology Clinical Trials in Newport Beach.
